When starting Amir Watch Company there was one goal, to make high quality watches with an original, nature inspired design at an affordable price. As far as quality goes the only requirement in my opinion is that the watch be well built. No matter how beautiful the design, or how well finished a watch is, quality begins with a sturdy build. Across the entire watch industry, from affordable to high end luxury, from time only to grand complications, quality can be felt when its there.
Nature is the driving force behind the design of every watch that comes from this Company. But beyond that it allows for the watches to tell a story. I have no ties to traditional watchmaking, which means my company doesn’t have any heritage to speak of. However, I do understand the value of having a story that links your watches to something significant and impactful. The natural world’s connection to time serves as that link for Amir Watch Company. Every design will tell a story that highlights a part of nature both past and present, as well as any significance it has held throughout human history.
Affordability is most definitely a subjective concept. The watches released by Amir Watch Company will be priced at what I would be comfortable with paying. I think that if you’re making a product to sell it should be something that you, yourself would buy. A price under 1000 dollars is what you can expect from Amir Watch company.
When I was younger, I took every opportunity to share my knowledge of nature with anyone who would listen. But my little brother, Amir didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, he would listen to me and watch all the discovery channel and animal planet I wanted. As time went on we would sit together and read books about animals and I would tell him stories about the animals that weren’t in the books. Those hours spent sharing my love of nature with my brother are some of my fondest memories, I have with him. The watches that come from Amir Watch Company tell stories of nature the same way I would share stories with my brother.
Amir Watch Company is more than the company name, it’s aspirational. While currently producing watches through third parties, the long term goal is to be a fully in-house watchmaker. While I understand that achieving this goal will take a long time, I believe it is worth the hard work it will take to make this dream a reality.
The logo is the Adinkra symbol for the seed of the wawa aba tree. This West African symbol represents hardiness, toughness and perseverance while inspiring the same in others. The symbol perfectly ties in with Amir Watch Company’s focus on nature and it doesn’t hurt that it looks nice either.
